So most of you know what happened yesterday but thought that I would put it onto the blog to keep those that do visit up to date.
I was called at 05H20 yesterday by a friend that had gone out cycling with Arthur to be told that he had an accident. I arranged the ambulance then rushed out to see him and found him on his back in the middle of the road.
What happened??? Well boys being boys they went out for a cycle at about 7km down the road doing 53km per hour they took a downhill corner, on wet roads, braked and ......... yup the breaks froze and Arthur went flying.
The result is three broken ribs (5th, 6th & 7th) and a broken collar bone. We were going to head home mid morning after these results but then the doctor decide one more test ~ a CT Scan. We waited and waited for the results and then a nurse came in with a neck brace and said the doctor was on his way in to see us. When the doctor got off his very long telephone conversation he eventually came through to say that he had spoken to a specialist and needed to book Arthur in overnight. They then announced that he would be going into High care / ICU for observation and that the specialist would come through at 13H00 to see us to decide whether an operation was necessary or not. 13H00 came and went, 14H00 came and went, we were then told 16H00, well this came and went too. We eventually saw the doc at 18H30 to be told that Arthur did not have to have an operation but needed to be under watch for at least 24hours, with at least a day or two in a ward there after.
I spoke to Arthur earlier today and he sounds a lot better, I will give you an update after I have been to see him.
He is in Umhlanga Hospital at the moment and due to go through to see him a bit later this morning.

Get better soon Arth! Can't believe you cycled all the way from JHB to DBN with no hassle and then this happens!
So sorry to hear about Arthur's fall. I hope he will be whole and back on his bike soon. Just give him a lot of TLC. Hugs from Desire
